FAQ

How should we form a team?

A team must include at least 5 members and at max 6 members , including at least one female member. All the members from a team should belong to the same institute.

How to register for SIH 2020?

The college SPOC shall register your team. You cannot apply directly.

How to submit an idea?

The qualifying teams from internal hackathon shall be eligible to submit their ideas on the SIH portal by the College SPOC only. A team will not be able to make multiple idea submissions for a given SIH Edition.

How to know if we’ve been qualified the next round?

Once the ideas are received, a panel of experts evaluates the submissions. Evaluation criteria will include novelty of the idea, complexity, clarity, and details in the prescribed format, feasibility, practicability, sustainability, the scale of impact, user experience, and potential for future work progression. Results are displayed at sih.gov.in.

Where are the announcements made regarding the SIH 2020?

Every information regarding SIH is posted on the SIH portal. Along with this, teams are also notified via  e-mails.

Can Team members be changed?

Only 2 team members can be changed from a given team. A limited time duration after the first round of evaluation is provided where the teams may submit their member changes.

How and when will the SIH 2020 be conducted?

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, we shall organise the Grand finale of SIH 2020 online from 1st to 3rd August,2020. Using an online portal, we shall conduct the hackathon.

How does the Online Hackathon System work?

We shall organise information sessions, which shall be mandatory for every team to attend. All the working of the portal shall be explained at the info session.

What if we face any technical issue during the Hackathon?

The associated nodal centre shall be responsible for helping you with the technical problem you face.

When are the results for the Grand Finale announced?

The results shall be announced on the evening of 5th August 2020.

.How can I register as an evaluator?

You can register as an evaluator once your Nodal Centre provides you with a link for registration.

What is the process of evaluation?

Evaluation process consists of three rounds in which evaluators have to enter scores based on the performance of the team during the hackathon.

On what basis will the marks be given?

Evaluation is scaled into five factors mainly as solution appearance, impact, technology, execution, and UX.

My evaluator login account is not working. what should I do?

If you are unable to login to your account, you may contact your Nodal Centre Head. Their number and contact details are mentioned at the Nodal Centre Page.

Will I get a certificate of evaluator in the end of the hackathon?

 Yes, your respective Nodal centre will provide you with the certificate of honor.

How can I register my Institute as a nodal center?

Nodal centers are selected by the Smart India Hackathon team by evaluating their performance in academics and innovation.

I am a Nodal Center for SIH 2020. What are my responsibilities?

As a nodal center, you will be acting as a central point of contact for the hackathon especially for student teams participating in the grand finale.

What all facilities and manpower is needed for SIH 2020 Virtual Edition?

Nodal Centre needs to add at least 20 manpower for its social media coordination, student coordination, media coordination, and volunteers. Along with this, a separate and integrated video conferencing system is needed to connect with students and vice versa including evaluators, dignitaries, and judges.

We have provided data regarding manpower but we are in shortage. What should we do?

To keep the ball rolling we request you to keep at least 10 to 15 students as a backup for case submitted manpower is absent or not available. 

Do I have to arrange evaluators for the problem statements?

Yes, you are required to add evaluators, judges, and juries that have experience and knowledge related to the technical dome of the respective problem statement allocated to you.

I want to change Nodal Center Head SPOC. What is the process?

In this case, you have to contact SP for your nodal center in MIC. This action must be taken in through a mail to your SIH SPOC keeping the innovation director and SIH email in the copy.

We don't have enough manpower to handle information technology tasks. What should we do?

If the Center is lacking manpower then it is suggested that you should approach other colleges or freelancers to get enrolled for hackathon events. This will reduce the workload of arranging manpower at your end.

Are we going to get training for the process of SIH 2020?

Yes, the Innovation Cell along with Innovatio Curis will conduct training sessions for all manpower, judges and Juries in five different slots. Nodal centres are requested to pass this information to all manpower related to the execution and operation of SIH.
